No 22 Training Group is part of Headquarters Air Command, RAF High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. It is responsible for the recruitment and selection of all RAF personnel and for the policy and delivery of RAF non-operational training. The aim of the Training Group is to underpin the military effectiveness of the RAF and other services by the timely provision of appropriately trained military and civilian personnel. No 22 Training Group’s portfolio of flying courses provides elementary, basic and advanced flying training for fast jet, rotary wing and multi-engine aircraft. Additionally, its overall ground training portfolio is similar to that provided by further and higher education sectors. In partnership with its contractors, Training Group operates a fleet of 400 aircraft and employs 5700 staff to train 6000 trainees.
The Royal Air Force recognises that investing in the training of its young workforce is a priority for maintaining a motivated and effective force. It has 14 apprenticeships on offer, ranging from professional cooking to business and administration and to aeronautical engineering.
