Robert Wiseman Dairies is a family run company employing 5000 staff. The company has taken over and purchased over 50 dairy companies and is now the second largest dairy in the UK. Company assets include a fleet of 1200 vehicles, 7 dairies, 15 depots and a head office.
The company has held a contract with the National Employer Service since 2004. The primary function of the contract is to fund assessment of drivers of dairy delivery trucks through to NVQ Level 2 in HGV driving. In 2004, the NES set up a contract to fund what is believed to be the only in-house NVQ assessment scheme in the dairy industry. The programme has been a real success not just in terms of starting and completion rates, but in the difference it has made to individuals. Evidence of this difference was the visible motivation, drive and pride of employees successfully completing the programme when a Director presented their NVQ certificates.
The company is in the process of setting up the Robert Wiseman Academy, to provide everyone who joins the company with a clear training path to meet individual as well as company needs.
