What we do

Skills for Life

Skills for Life qualifications are designed to help employees develop the skills used in everyday life, such as reading, writing and maths. Support for these qualifications is central to achieving the Leitch Review target of 95% of the population being functionally literate and numerate by 2020.

Employers can choose their own Skills for Life trainers and opt to work with them in the way that best suits their business.

To support this, NES has identified specialist provider organisations with the capacity and expertise to provide literacy and numeracy training (at levels 1 and 2 as a minimum) to large, multi‐site employers across the country. This enables us to directly refer employers who wish to set up or expand their in‐house Skills for Life programmes.
