NES helps large employers to commit to developing their workforce through the Skills Pledge – a voluntary, public commitment to improve the skills of all employees to allow progression. We aim to help 90% of NES-associated employers commit to the Skills Pledge.
Where a CEO has a vision of how and why skills development will bring benefit to the business, and wishes to implement this vision across the business as a whole, he or she will normally commit to the Skills Pledge and then identify someone within their organisation to take the lead and develop a plan for implementation.
The Skills Pledge plan will identify priority employee groups and the skills they need, and how their needs will be met through the delivery of training. It may also identify how the employer will extend training to the employees of the SMEs in its supply chain.
For very large organisations and supply chains with a low-skilled (below level 3) workforce this plan may extend over several years to provide tens of thousands of employees with nationally recognised accredited learning.
